1279552 Garments M ITO 10 April 1970 [12 April 1969 27 Aug 1969] 17037/70 Heading A3V A garment having sleeve, front and back portions for encircling parts of the arms and body of a wearer, is made from a blank 10 cut from a length of flattened tubular material along a continuous line (a-b-c-d-e-f-g), in Fig. 1, to form a front portion 12 which has a pair of substantially S-shaped upper side edges (g,f) and (g', f') disposed one on each side of the garment when worn, and a back portion including a pair of sleeve portions 11, 11' which extend from the shoulders and are separated by a neck-opening edge (a-a'), each sleeve portion having an S-shaped upper side edge (b, b') which, after folding of the blank, is seamed to a corresponding S-shaped upper edge (g, f), (g', f') of the front portion, e.g. by stitching, the inner edges (d, d') of the folded sleeve portions defining arm holes. A continuation of the cut may be made between the edges (g, g') to provide a frontal neck-opening edge. The edges (f-g) and (b) in Fig. 1 are equal in length so that they cooperate fully with one another when joined. Similarly the edges (c) and (e) are substantially equal in length to give added fullness to the front portion when they are joined. The points 19 and 19' align on seaming of the garment with points 14 and 14' respectively. The cut garment blank is folded and seamed into the finished shape shown in Fig. 4, after which a collar and cuffs may be added.
