1313127 Pneumatic conveyers SPETSIALNOE KONSTRUKTORSKOE BJURO TRANSNEFT-AVTOMATIKA 27 April 1971 11633/71 Heading B8A [Also in Divisions E2 and F2] Containers 2 pneumatically conveyed along a tube are braked in a loading/unloading chamber when they contact the spring-loaded grip 12 on the piston-rod 11 of an hydraulic pistoncylinder buffer in which the piston 6 has secured to it on the side opposite to the piston-rod a metering rod 13 which co-operates with a port 9 in the cylinder 5 to throttle flow from the cylinder. Flow is also throttled by an adjustable restrictor in pipeline 43. The cylinder 5 is rigidly attached to a further cylinder 27 which, when the pressure in the chamber 7 builds up, slides in a cylinder 1 to compress air in a chamber 33 to provide an additional braking force. A reservoir (37) and a motor driven pump (38, Fig. 1) are mounted on the cylinder 27 and with rigid pipelines 41-43 make up the hydraulic circuit. An endless motor-driven chain (47, Fig. 1) and liquid supplied to chamber 7 from the pump (38) adjust the positions of cylinders 27 and 5 and the container for loading/unloading and then return them to the initial contact position. Liquid supplied to the chamber 8 through pipe 41 releases the spring grip 12 and accelerates the container back into the pneumatic-conveying tube, leaving the buffer ready for the next container impact.
