[Class 8 (ii)] An apparatus whereby a machine tool is actuated by compressed air comprises a closed system containing a pump d, at least one working cylinder b and a piston c, a storage reservoir a if desired between the pump and the cylinder, and a valve e whereby the opposite ends of the cylinder can be alternatively connected to parts of the system communicating with the inlet and outlet of the pump ; the system is initially filled with air under pressure from a valved conduit g and the pump which withdraws air from one side of the piston delivers it at a higher pressure to the other side of the piston. to actuate the same.
