Abstract

1318174 Device for engaging and transfering yarn HEBERLEIN & CO AG 19 April 1971 [6 March 1970] 22735/71 Headings D1F and D1J Apparatus for engaging and transfering yarn to a wind-up bobbin comprises a body 1 having a longitudinal bore 11 therethrough, a tube 2 tightly fitted in part of said bore 11, a nozzle 10 formed in the bore adjacent an end of the tube which projects into the bore, means 4 permitting a fluid pressure medium to be supplied to the nozzle 10, and a slide member 3 opposite the nozzle 10 and the said end of the tube 2 and movable transversely of the bore 11. In operation, pressure fluid is supplied at 4 and creates a suction within the tube 2 by means of the chamber 9 and nozzle 10. A yarn end is thus sucked into the tube 2 and into a bag attached to the other end of the bore 11. The slide member 3 is then depressed to close the bore 11 and at the same time the yarn is cut by a knife 14 spring-biassed against the member 3. The pressure fluid supplied at 4 is diverted by the member 3 to flow through the tube 2 and thus blow out the yarn end. The yarn end is blown on to a wind-up bobbin. The slide member 3 is spring-biassed to a position in which the bore 11 is open. The body 1 is preferably mounted on a pistol-grip having a trigger which operates the valve to supply pressure fluid, e.g. compressed air, to the means 4.
