Abstract

1,247,926. Reciprocating pumps. G. HANSEN. Dec.3, 1968 [Jan.3, 1968], No.57207/68. Heading F1A. In a method for filling a container with liquid the speed of filling at the commencement of the operation is considerably less than during the remaining period. A pump 2 is actuated by a hydraulic or pneumatic motor 11 which at the commencement of the pumping stroke is fed with fluid through a narrow throttle 19 and a wider throttle 20 in series; subsequently a valve 21 is opened to by-pass the throttle 19 to permit the motor 11 to speed up. The stroke is reversed when member 12 attached to piston-rod 10 operates switch 13 reversing flow through two position valve 26, fluid then passing to the cylinder 11 via throttle 17. The suction stroke is limited by an adjustable stop 15. A rotary inlet and outlet valve assembly 5 controlled by actuating cylinder 6 is mounted beneath supply hopper 7.
