Abstract
1312574 Electro-photographic processes KATSURAGAWA DENKI K K 14 Sept 1971 [25 Sept 1970] 42727/71 Heading G2H An electro-photographic process comprises uniformly charging a drum 1 with a corona discharge device 5; imagewise exposing the drum at 6 (together with reverse polarity charging if, as shown, a PIP process is carried out); transferring the resulting electrostatic latent image to a receiver 10; and applying solvent to the drum to remove contaminants, (mainly nitric acid) deposited during corona discharge. The solvent is preferably trichloroethylene, benzene, carbon tetrachloride or methyl alcohol and may be applied by a roller, sponge or brush 9 after image transfer. Roller 9 may continuously or intermittently contact the drum. Preferably the drum comprises a conductive layer 4 a photo-conductive layer 2 an insulating layer 1 and an outer layer (not shown) of polystyrene to protect against the acid.
