Abstract

1283808 Electro-photography KATSURAGAWA DENKI K K 4 Dec 1970 [17 Dec 1969] 57653/70 Heading G2H An element comprising a photo-conductive layer 3 between a transparent conductive layer 2 and a transparent insulating layer 4 is charged with one polarity and then with the opposite polarity on the insulative side, imagewise radiation exposure being effected on the conductive side during the second charging step. A transparent insulative layer 4<SP>1</SP> may be situated between the photo-conductive layer 3 and the transparent conductive layer 2 Fig. 2 . A second photoconductive layer 3<SP>1</SP> may be situated between the first photo-conductive layer3 and the transparent insulative layer 4<SP>1</SP> Fig. 3. In the latter form, the transparent insulative layer 4<SP>1</SP> may be omitted. Charging with both polarities may be effected with a corona discharge device 6. Uniform radiation exposure may be effected during the first charging step. In this case, a stationary light source 18 may be employed, corona discharge device 6 being oscillated. Alternatively, a scanning combination of a corona discharge device 7 and light source 8 may be employed. The resulting charge image on insulative layer 4 is developed in known manner. A multi-colour image is produced by repeating the steps of charging and developing. The multi-colour image produced may be transferred and insulative layer 4 cleaned for reuse.
