Abstract
1,133,192. Electro-photographic processes. FUJI SHASHIN FILM K.K. Jan.20, 1966 [Jan.21, 1965], No.2701/66. Heading G2H. An electro-photographic process which avoids background development comprises electrostatically charging a photo-conductive insulating layer on a conductive support, imagewise exposing the charged layer to produce an electrostatic latent image, the layer being reversely and uniformly charged before developing the latent image, the potential contrast existing between the inexposed and exposed areas being maintained during the reverse charging. In an example, a layer of photo-conductive material is uniformly charged to have a potentional V o, Fig.2A, e.g. 1200 V. Exposure produces a potential contrast of #V, Fig. 2B, between unexposed portions X o to X 1 and exposed portions X 1 to X 2 . A reverse charge e.g. - 900 V causes the potential of the portion X 1 to X 2 to fall to V R , Fig. 2C, having an approximate value of 50 V which prevents background development.
