Abstract

131,141. Brandwood, J., Brandwood, E., and Jowett, P. Aug. 14, 1918. Sliver conductors.-In a, coiler head for carding-engines or drawing frames the sliver is passed through a rotating ring or funnel which is disposed eccentrically on the coiler head. The ring &c. rotates on its own axis in a direction opposite to the direction of rotation of the coiler head. Motion is imparted to the coiler head by a pinion A which gears with a wheel B carrying on its upper surface a gear C meshing with an internally toothed stationary ring J. The gear C drives through bevel gearing D, E the rollers H whereby the sliver is drawn through the ring U and passed to the coiler can. The ring U is rotated about its own axis by a gear train C, S, T, U<1>. The nip of the rollers H is always below the ring U.
