Abstract

28,009. Fine Cotton Spinners' and Doublers' Association, and Lunn, J. W. Dec. 5. Carding - engines. - Driving - arrangements adapted for reversing the cylinders of carding- engines for grinding comprise a pulley A enclosing reversing-gearing and mounted on a shaft B to be driven side by side with the usual loose pulley A'. On the inside of the pulley A is an internally-toothed ring a meshing with gears C<1>. The gears C' turn together with gears C<2> on pins c carried by a revoluble plate D. The gears C<2> mesh with a gear b fast on the shaft B. For forward driving, the gearing is locked solid by plugs f, which screw through the plate D and engage the gear b. To effect reversal, the plugs f are withdrawn and the plate D is held against rotation by a sliding pedestal cap E. In another arrangement, the plugs f are replaced by a radially-sliding toothed grip, which engages the teeth of the wheel b. The pedestal cap is fixed and carries screws, which can engage and hold the plate D.
