Abstract

1308668 Treatment of materials with fluids HEBERLEIN & CO AG 20 Nov 1970 [24 Nov 1969] 55373/70 Heading D1L Thread- or web-like materials are treated with liquids, steam or gases on a beam which is rotatably mounted in a dwell tank. Prior to being wound on to the beam the material is passed through a liquid treatment bath where it is swollen or shrunk, according to need, to avoid stresses during treatment on the beam. Preferably the material is poured in a tortuous path through the pre-treatment liquid and wound on the beam below the surface of the liquid in the dwell tank. The preferred means of bringing the material on the beam into contact with the treatment medium is to force the fluid inside the beam through a hollow spigot and then out through perforations in the beam surface and through the material.
