Abstract

A textile material is located in a chamber and treatment fluid (e.g. dye) containing e.g. water or halogenated hydrocarbon solvent is applied to the textile material as a fine spray using a pressure gas flow (e.g. air, saturated steam, or inert gas). Pref. the gas flow is heated and excess spray is collected and the treatment fluid separated out and recirculated. The process may be carried out at a static pressure greater than that of the liquid medium at the processing temp. The textile material may be in the form of a package, or a continuous web which is passed through the chamber. The use of solvent or water and the quantity of waste solvent or water is reduced.
