Abstract

1415262 Sterilizing packaging material ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 15 Aug 1973 38622/73 Heading A5G Apparatus for sterilizing webs or sheets of packaging material comprises a container 6 for a sterilizing liquid 4, e.g. hydrogen peroxide solution, through which the material is conveyed. At or near (either first before or just after) the entrance point for the material, it is subjected over its entire width to a pressurized jet of sterilizing liquid from the nozzles 14 and 15. During passage through the liquid 4, it is preferably subjected to ultrasonic vibration (from generators 25) and on leaving the liquid is subjected to jets of heated gas, e.g. air, from nozzles 20 and 21 to dry it and remove any remaining foreign matter. Thereafter, the material may be passed through a wash bath 26 and dried by further heated gas jets 30-34 before passing to the packaging machine.
