Abstract

1290333 Passing liquids through materials IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 2 Jan 1970 [15 Jan 1969] 2425/69 Heading D1L Cylindrical packages 15 or 16 of textile material, e.g. cheeses of yarn or rolls of cloth, are treated with a liquid which is percolated downwardly axially of the package which is retained vertically and coaxially within a tube 2 or 2a. If the tube has a greater diameter than the package, annular sealing rings 18 are used. The liquid may be supplied by sprays 3. The treatment may be dyeing, rinsing, washing, or organic-solvent cleaning, and may be combined with or followed by radial-flow treatments with liquids or gases. In Fig. 1 valves 9 and 14 are for the supply and exhaustion of a gaseous drying medium.
