Abstract

1301114 Gas burner J M IRIONDO 29 Dec 1969 63090/69 Heading F4T A safety device for detecting changes in atmospheric oxygen and/or carbon dioxide content comprises a burner body 4 having a tubular flame shaper 5 which together define an annular outlet 7, and a thermocouple 6 located concentrically with the outlet 7 and being adapted to control an electromagnetic fuel supply valve to the burner in dependence on the nature of the flame produced by the burner. Under normal operating conditions, as shown in Fig. 1, the thermocouple is situated in the outer, hot zone 9 of the annular flame 8-if the oxygen content of the atmosphere should decrease or the CO 2 content increase, the flame shape changes to that shown in Fig. 2 and the thermocouple 6 is now in the inner, cold, zone 11 of the flame. The change in temperature sensed by the thermocouple results in a shutting down of the fuel supply to the burner by operation of the electromagnetic valve (not shown)
