PURPOSE:To prevent the accident due to an oxygen deficiency and a poisoning due to carbon monoxide, by inserting a temperature sensor in a buffle plate to confront a flame, while the buffle plate is arranged in a position where the flame from a burner opening of a pilot burner collides the buffle plate. CONSTITUTION:When the concentration of oxygen in the air in the room is lowered, the flame from the burner opening 4a of the pilot burner 4 collides the buffle plate 10, the temperature distribution around the temperature detector 15 is lowered with respect to the temperature, and therefore the output of the temperature detector 15 is decreased. Then this output lowering signal is passed to a controlling circuit 17 to close a gas supply valve 3, and the supply of fuel gas to the main burner 1 and the pilot burner 4 is stopped. Accordingly, carbon monoxide poisoning due to incomplete combustion of the gas burner caused by oxygen deficiency can be prevented.
