Abstract

1292083 Load handling slings; flexible towing connections P BRINDEJONC DE TREGLODE 12 Oct 1970 [13 Oct 1969 16 Sept 1970] 48285/70 Headings B8B and B8H A sling or tow-rope consists of two cables 2a, 2b embedded in a sheath 3 of elastomeric material and projecting from the sheath at at least one end where they are connected to provide a loop. As shown, Figs. 1, 2, the bared ends of the cables are connected together by sleeves 9a, 9b to form loops 12. Alternatively, the bared ends of the cables can be connected together by a further cable secured to the cable ends by sleeves, Fig. 5 (not shown). An eyelet may be secured within the loops, Figs. 5, 6 (not shown). In the embodiment shown in Figs. 15, 16, one end of the sling is attached to a ring 20 by a link having legs 21a, 21b which are secured to the cables 2a, 2b by a sleeve 22. Alternative forms of attachments connected to the ends of the cables are described, Figs. 17-23 (not shown). Figs. 24-29 (not shown) illustrate sheaths of different cross-sections.
