Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the size and weight of a device for anchoring a submarine cable by supporting a gimbal bendable in any direction to a repeater housing, connecting a cable tensile member to the gimbal through a transmission member into a repeater. CONSTITUTION:An external ring 13 is connected to the end of a repeater housing 12, a gimbal 16 is supported bendably in any direction to the ring 13, and the tensile member 21 of a cable 20 is connected to an anchoring cone 18 engaged with the center of the gimbal 16. And optical fiber 22 as a transmittion member is passed through the hole 19 perforated at the gimbal 16 into the housing 12. Thus, the load of the cage can be exactly transmitted to the housing to reduce the size and weight of the anchoring means and particularly the entire length of the repeater without losing bendable function with respect to the repeater at the cable.
