Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent generation of kink and breakage of optical fibers by allowing free rotations and bending operations of an anchoring device between an undersea optical fiber cable and a joint. CONSTITUTION:A ball bearing 21 is interposed between the shells 25 at a cable anchoring side and at a joint side, and a cylindrical bearing 19 is interposed between the shell 25 and a cable anchoring casing 5 such that the shells 25 at the both sides and a connector 18 itself are made rotatable. Thus, the bendable connections of the cable anchoring casing 5 and a joint casing 6 through a chamber hub 7, a chamber pin 8, a bellows 9 and a blended material 10 are made possible together with the rotations between a cable 1 and the anchoring casing 5, and the joint casing 6 is bent so that the joint may not generate the kink and that no shearing stress may not be applied to an optical fiber 12 at the joint portion.
