Abstract
PURPOSE:To use a Y-branching device for a single line bi-direction transmission line, by setting a branching ratio of the Y-branching device larger in the photodetector side than in the light emitting element side. CONSTITUTION:Between branch lines of fiber branching devices 15, 16 manufactured so as to constitute a Y-branching line, a branch line coupled with light emitting elements 11, 14 is formed to a smaller diameter than a branch line coupled with photodetectors 12, 13. According to this constitution, a light beam of wavelength lambda1 emitted by the element 11 is made incident from one branch line of the branching device 15, reaches the branching device 16 through an optical fiber 17 from its base line, and is transmitted to the photodetector 12 from the branch line of a large diameter. The branching device 16 is set so that the extent of branch to the photodetector 12 side becomes larger than the extent of branch of the element 14 side, therefore, the greater part of the wavelength lambda1 is made incident to the photodetector 12. A light beam of wavelength lambda2 from the element 14 is also transmitted to the photodetector 13 through the branching device 16, the fiber 17 and the branching device 15 in the same way. In this way, single line bi-direction transmission of a light beam is executed.
