Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce a difference in time lag due to wavelength generated when light having a latitude in wavelength propagates in an optical fiber, by combining looped delay waveguides which couple with only specific wavelengths. CONSTITUTION:A looped delay waveguide 2 couples with a waveguide 1 through a coupling part 3, waveguides 4 and 5 couples with the waveguide 2, and waveguides 8 and 9 couples with the waveguides 4 and 5 similarly. For example, when light beams having wavelengths lambda1-lambda8 are made incident to the waveguide 1, the coupling part 3 couples with only the light beams having the wavelengths lambda1, lambda3, lambda5, and lambda7, and light beams having the wavelengths lambda2, lambda4, lambda6, and lambda8 are transmitted as they are. A coupling part couples with the light beams having the lambda1 and lambda5, and a coupling part 7 couples with the light beams having lambda3 and lambda7; and a coupling part 11 couples with the light beam having the lambda1, and a coupling part 12 couples with the light beam having the lambda3 respectively. Conseuequently, the light beams having the wavelengths lambda1, lambda3, lambda5, and lambda7 are delayed optionally, and the remaining light beams having the lambda2, lambda4, lambda6, and lambda8 are delayed behind a delay waveguide 13.
