Light S0 having constant intensity is made incident ot the lead-in fiber 6 from a semiconductor laser 3 and the optical fiber 7 for modulation is applied with the pressure of piezoelectric elements 8 and 9 applied with the output of a modulator 2. With slight pressure, the light leaks out of the optical fiber 7. Thus, modulation is facilitated.
