Abstract

PURPOSE:To exactly execute changeover and maintenance of an optical cable without breaking an optical fiber core, by detecting a scattered light beam from the optical fiber core or a connecting part, and detecting a light beam from a transmission part. CONSTITUTION:For instance, a modulated light beam of a semiconductor laser of a transmission part 8 is propagated through a core 10 in an optical cable 9, passes through a core connecting part 11, and is connected to the nixt cable. A sensor 14 of a receiving part 12 is placed in the proximity of the core connecting part 11, and comparison of cores is executed, for instance, by bending cores (10)14 , and detecting a scattered light beam 15 from said bent core. In this way, changeover and maintenance of the optical cable 9 are executed exactly without breaking the core 10.
