Abstract

128,931. Courrejou, M. A. June 19, 1917, [Convention date]. Spray carburettors.-In a carburettor particularly intended for a rotary or other type of aircraft engine, the nozzle 8 projects into the. mixing chamber through the wall of a fixed choke tube 7, the inlet of air to which is controlled by a plug 9, the inner edge of which is notched at 10. The plug supports, at 27, a lever 26 which actuates a grooved fuel plug 21 and turns at its lower end about a fulcrum which is adjustable by a screw 28 and nuts 29 to vary the proportion of air to fuel. A small air inlet for slow running is controlled by a screw 5. The maximum delivery of fuel is adjusted by a screw 22. The air inlet chest comprises two cylinders 14, 15 with axes at right-angles, the cylinder 15 containing a baffle-plate 16 which prevents escape of air when turning abruptly. The plug 9 is actuated through a rod 11. The notches 10 are so shaped as to direct the air substantially on to the nozzle outlet orifice. The casing is connected to the crankshaft by a nut 2 and lock-nut 3. The fuel supply reaches a maximum before that of the air, thus providing for an increase of air relative to fuel at high altitudes.
