Abstract

1,273,696. Electric cable. USS ENGS. & CONSULTANTS Inc. 19 Feb., 1970 [20 Feb., 1969], No. 8085/70. Heading H1A. [Also in Division C3] An insulated electrical conductor manufactured by the method of applying polypropylene insulation to the metal conductor of the cable by extrusion, heating the polyolefin layer to 400‹ to 500‹ F. and applying to said polyolefin layer while at said temperature a rubber based adhesive as specified below and then passing the cable through a water bath to reduce its temperature. A second layer of adhesive is applied to the relatively cool cable and a substantially abrasive resistant elastomer jacket is bonded under pressure to polyolefin layer. The insulator may also consist of polyethylene or crosslinked polyethylene and the elastomer jacket may consist of neoprene, butyl rubber, natural rubber or chlorosulphonated polyethylene. Chemlock 220 consists of chlorinated rubber, brominated poly 2,3-dichlorobutadiene-1,3 and at least 1% by weight, based on the weight of the solids in said composition, of a poly-cnitroso aromatic compound.
