127,146. Douglas Motors, Ltd., Bailey, S. L., and Douglas, W. W. July 13, 1918. Regulating; valvegear. - Valve-gear for an engine with opposed cylinders comprises a single cam C<1> for the two exhaust valves working two tappets A<2>, B<2> in different planes by means of two rockers D, the tappets and rockers being symmetrically arranged at opposite sides of the cam-shaft so that the operation of both valves is the same. A single cam works the two inlet valves by similar gear. In the arrangement shown, the valves are at one side of the cylinders. An adjustable cam may be loosely mounted on the cam-shaft for holding the exhaust valves open when desired. The cam-shaft and rockers are carried on a plate E secured to the crank chamber and detachable as a unit.
