In an I.C. engine having two inlet valves 12, 13, Fig. 1 (not shown) and two exhaust valves 14, 15 per cylinder, the valves 12, 14 are driven from camshaft 24, Fig. 2, through push rods 16, 17 intermediate levers 18, 19, rods 20, 21 and pivoted actuating levers 22, 23. Valves 13, 15 are driven by arms 18<SP>11</SP>, 19<SP>11</SP> of levers 18, 19.
