Abstract

117,009. Jarvis, J. Oct. 29, 1917. Valves; valve-gear.-A fourstroke-cycle internal-combustion engine has four fixed radial cylinders, each controlled by a single valve consisting of a piston R' integral with a mushroom head R<2>. The piston controls the inlet and exhaust pipes U, T, and the head R<2> controls the cylinder port Y, and when closed receives the cylinder pressure. The valve tappets R operated against springs S by separate lifters Q, Fig. 3, engaged by two cams M mounted loosely on the crank-shaft and rotated at half its speed by toothed gearing O.
