Abstract

100,248. Gile, F. H. April 5, 1915, [Convention date]. Valves; valve-gear.-In a two-strokecycle engine having one piston working in another, the exhaust ports are controlled each by a pair of beat valves 27, 33 one of which is automatic to prevent the escape of the charge through the exhaust port and the other mechanicallyactuated by a tappet 35 carried by a shaft 36 oscillated by a cam-actuated rod 38. The transfer passages 4, 4' between the pump spaces and the combustion chambers may be controlled by a ring valve (not shown) which may be held to its seat by a spring.
