Valves; valve-gear. - In a four - cylinder engine, the inlet and exhaust ports 20, 30 are controlled by separate slide valves 21, 22, 27. 28 in the inlet and exhaust conduits. Each valve controls the inlet or exhaust of two cvlinders. The valve-rods are attached to lugs within the valves and are actuated by cranks 16 on a half-speed shaft 15.
