Abstract

Moving through passages by oscillated blades and the like. - Gas is propelled through pipes, ventilating shafts, passages, &c. by giving to it impulses by the impact of flexible or semi-flexible blades, flaps, &c. upon suitable surfaces as or before it enters the pipe &c. and during its passage therethrough, or only during such passage; means may be provided for exhausting the gas at the delivery end. The impulses may be imparted to the gas by the apparatus described in Specification 8541/15, the apparatus being disposed in a chamber at the entrance to the pipe &c. and in communication with the gas to be propelled. Other chambers provided with impellina-apparatus may bo disposed at intervals along the pipe &c. and are preferably connected therewith so as to present no step or obstacle to the flow of gas. According to the Provisional Specification, the impulses may be produced by other means such as piston pulsations or by delivering the gas intermittently through jets from orifices disposed within the pipe around the circumference or otherwise.
