Abstract

885,626. Cleaning pipes. STEENBERGEN, N. V., A. H. Aug. 5, 1960, No. 27304/60. Class 99(2) [Also in Group XXIX]. A flexible elastic conduit is fed into a channel, wide as a drain, and moved therealong for cleaning the channel by supplying a pressure medium into the conduit which is provided at one end with a nozzle having spray means discharging some of the medium into the channel in a direction substantially contrary to the direction of flow within the conduit, the medium being supplied to the conduit in impulses of varying pressure which alternately stretch and contract the conduit. The nozzle is substantially conical and is provided with a central duct in its tip producing a forwardly directed jet 2, and with rearwardly directed ducts producing jets 1. A partial vacuum is created between the boundaries a, b which is effective in cleaning the channel. The pressure medium is supplied by a three-cylinder pump with one cylinder put out of gear, a two cylinder pump with a phase difference of 120 degrees, are a pump with constant delivery with an overflow valve in the delivery pipe, the valve being periodically opened by hand or automatically.
