571,022. Exhaust systems. CHICAGO METAL HOSE CORPORATION. June 11, 1943, No. 9450. Convention date, June 11, 1942. [Class 7 (ii)] [Also in Group XXVIII] A flexible pipe for hot gases, particularly an aircraft engine exhaust pipe, comprises rigid sections 20, 27, a corrugated or other flexible section 23 connected -to the rigid sections and a tubular baffle 22 rigidly connected to the section 20 to protect the flexible portion from the hot gases. The baffle 22 may be slightly tapered in the direction of flow of the gases. More than one flexible section may be provided. In a modification, the baffle 20a, Fig. 4, is integral with and of the same diameter as the pipe section 20 and has a collar 40 to which the flexible section 23 is welded, openings 43 being provided therein for the admission of cooling air.
