Abstract
778,365. Pipe connections. ROLLSROYCE, Ltd. Feb. 3, 1956 [Feb. 3, 1955], No. 3274/55. Class 99(1) Means interconnecting two casing parts. 10, 11, e.g. of a gas turbine engine, includes a rigid pipe 25 the ends of which are received respectively in a socket 12B in the part 10 and a connector piece 22 detachably secured to the part 11, the pipe being adapted to telescope within the connector piece to such an extent as to free the other end thereof from the socket 12B. and to be removed together with the connector piece; means, such as a circlip 29, normally prevents such telescoping. As: shown, the socket 12B is formed in an internally projecting tubular portion 12, which is divided by an annular flange 13 to provide a further socket 12A for the reception of a pipe 14 The connector piece 22 is in the form of an elbow, or, alternatively, is straight, and received in a tubular extension 19 of the part 11, and has. a flange 21A secured by studs and nuts- 21 to a corresponding flange 21B on the extension; a pipe 16 extends from the extension to a socket 17 of the part 11. The pipes are provided with thickened ends grooved to receive rubber sealing rings. Removal of the circlip 29 and nuts 21 allows the pipe 25 to be telescoped into the connector piece 22 and both parts to be detached.
