Abstract
708,862. Generating combustion products under pressure. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. Jan. 14, 1952 [Jan. 26, 1951], No. 1005/52. Class 51 (1) In a combustion apparatus, for example, for use in a gas turbine engine, comprising a series of interconnected flame tubes, the interconnector pipes are located with respect to the flame tubes by projections, one set of which is manually deformable and the second set of which is disposed radially to the interconnector pipe. Adjacent flame tubes 14 have openings 21 with outwardly projecting flanges 22, and the interconnector pipes 20 have a mid portion 24 of reduced diameter, a collar 25 with a flange 26 being secured at one end and a castellated ring 28 at the other. To assemble, the interconnector pipe is entered into the left-hand flame tube 14, the right-hand flame tube is then placed in position and the interconnector pipe is then moved to the right until the flange 26 abuts the flange 22. One or more castellations 31a are then bent outwardly to locate the pipe.
