Abstract
892,890. Generating combustion products under pressure. PURVIS, J. T. Nov. 25, 1958, No. 38016/58. Class 51 (1). In a gas turbine having a large diameter annular combustion chamber, coaxial with the turbine, the outer wall of the chamber is supported, at its central circumference, by brackets mounted on the inner surface of the turbine outer casing and on the outer surface of the combustion chamber. Limited radial movement of the chamber outer wall is permitted by the brackets which each consist of two mutually engaging parts, T-shaped member 6, mounted on chamber 2 by welding at 6b, and U-shaped member 5, mounted on the turbine casing (not shown) by welding at the base 5a. The legs 5b and 5c of member 5 have inwardly directed flanges 5e which are bent under the head 6c of member 6 and spaced from it to permit relative radial movement of the casing and chamber.
