Class 110(3) [Also in Group XXXI] In a vehicle with a gas turbine propulsion unit comprising a compressor driven by a turbine and a mechanically independent power turbine disposed one behind another longitudinally of the vehicle, the transverse wheel shafts of the vehicle are arranged to be directly driven by a longitudinal shaft from the power turbine which is designed to rotate at such a low speed that it can drive the vehicle wheels without a substantial reduction ratio. The expression "directly driven" is intended to refer to arrangements in which the transverse wheel shafts or the differential gearing between these shafts are driven by the longtitudinal shaft through a simple gear. In particular, there is no other gearing serving as reduction gearing. In the arrangement shown air from an axial flow compressor d is supplied to combustion chambers b to which fuel is fed through nozzles a. The combustion gases from the chambers b are led to a turbine f driving the compressor a and the fuel pump h and then to a mechanically independent power turbine g. The driving shaft or shafts I of the vehicle wheels are directly driven by the turbine g through a shaft g<SP>1</SP> and a simple bevel gearing i and, in some cases, a differential gearing k. The turbine f is smaller than and rotates faster than the turbine g.
