Carding-engines; feeding openers and carding- engines.-An oscillating roller or semi -cylindric al roller d is mounted above and co-operates with the feeding rollers a, b of a carding-engine or like machine. The roller d is operated by a quadrant and crank or other mechanism and serves to detach matted fibres from the roller b and to feed them to the cylinder A, and by its receding motion to clear the roller b. The cylinder A may be the first cylinder or first licker-in of a carding-engine, or the main drum of a like machine.
