Abstract

150,539. Belshaw, R. Sept. 16, 1919. Coilers.-In coilers for carding-engines, combing-machines, drawing-frames, &c. guards or guiding brackets mounted in a fixed position on the coiler, or other suitable stationary part of the machine, are provided to prevent the cams from rocking or falling out of position whilst coiling is taking place. The guards R, R', Fig. 1, may be provided near the top or near the bottom of the cam F or at any suitable intermediate position and may be secured to or made integral with the coiler C, the draw-box or other suitable part of the frame. They may be adjustably mounted by means of slotted brackets, and may be provided with antifriction bowls, which may be positively driven to assist in rotating the cam. The guards may extend the full length of the cam, and in the case of a drawing-frame in which a number of cams are employed may be formed as shown in Fig. 34 to serve for the whole number of cams.
