Abstract

1,264,674. Soil working and compressing implement. C. VAN DER LELY N.V. 29 April, 1969 [2 May, 1968], No. 21888/69. Heading A1B. [Also in Division F2] A soil working and compressing implement comprises a frame 1 supporting a shaft 2 which carries soil-working members 2A and a compressing member 14 extending the full width of the soil working members. Member 14 comprises a body 15 covered by a sleeve 21 of natural or synthetic rubber or synthetic plastics. A spatial clearance is provided between the body 15 and at least the greater part of the sleeve 21 by, e.g. two radial arms 19 bolted to axle 16 of the roller and adjustable by slots 18. Sleeve 21 may alternatively take the form of triangular prismatic ridges, castellations or planar flaps attached to the body at one edge only in order to provide the spatial clearance. The hollow interior of the body may be ballasted by, e.g. metal spheres. Soil compressing member 14 is driven by contact with the ground and drives the soil working members 2A and may also drive a seeder 12 and fertiliser 11. Frame 1 may be mounted on the tractor three-point-hitch.
