[Also in Division D1] An aqueous composition used in the treatment of textiles has a pH of 5 or below and comprises dimethylol ethylene urea, dimethylol dihydroxy ethylene urea, dimethylol propylene urea, a urea- or melamine-formaldehyde resin or a dimethylol alkyl and/or alkoxy carbamate, magnesium chloride and an organic acid salt which is a partially neutralized salt of an organic acid with an alkali metal, a partial or completely neutralized salt of an organic acid with magnesium or a mixed salt of an organic acid with an alkali metal and magnesium and has a pK value greater than 3. The organic acid salt may be sodium mono- or dihydrogen citrate, sodium hydrogen tartrate, magnesium monohydrogen citrate or tartrate, magnesium dihydrogen citrate, magnesium citrate or tartrate or sodium magnesium tartrate or citrate.
