Abstract

1,131,899. Flame-proofing. FARBWERKE HOECHST, A.G. 28 July, 1967 [28 July, 1966], No. 34819/67. Heading DIP. A cellulosic fibrous material is impregnated with an aqueous solution containing 2-20% of trisaziridinyl phosphine oxie and 5-80% of the reaction product of 1 mole of epichlorhydrin and 1.5-3 moles of tri-hydroxymethylphosphine, dried to a moisture content of 3-30% at 40-130‹C, treated with ammonia at 15-100‹C, and finally dried at 100-180‹C. The ammonia may be applied as gas or aqueous solution, or first as gas and then as aqueous solution. The solution may be of ammonia or ammounium carbonate or acetate. A solution of ammonia may also contain sodium sulphate or potassium chloride. The material may be of linen, cotton, or viscose.
