Abstract

1,178,194. Cellulose anionic ether composition; aminoplast/polyester compositions. CELANESE CORP. 23 Aug., 1968 [29 Sept., 1967], No. 40472/68. Addition to 1,171,877. Headings C3F and C3R. [Also in Division D1] A composition, suitable for creaseproofing cellulosic-polyester fabrics (see Division D1), comprises an aqueous solution of 50-225 g./l. of a textile resin (defined as a reagent capable of being fixed within a cellulosic fabric to impart crease-resistance), e.g. an aminoplast; from 1À5-15 g./l. of a non-fibre forming alkylene glycol/polyalkylene glycol terephthalic acid polyester having a relative viscosity (referred to a .1% solution in o-chlorophenol) of 1À1-2À0; an effective amount of a catalyst for the resin; and at least 2 g./1. of a starch or cellulose derivative of formula wherein at least one R is an anionic radical, the remaining R's are H, C 1-4 alkyl or C 1-4 hydroxyalkyi and Y is H or C 1-4 alkyl; the non-fibre forming polyester being the reaction product of a stoichiometric amount of terephthalic acid, or a mono or dialkyl terephthalate with a polyalkylene glycol and an alkylene glycol, these latter two being present in the ratio 1:1 to 1:10. Antioxidants (e.g. o-tertiary butyl phenols) may also be included in the compositions. Many suitable components are listed. A solution containing dimethylol dihydroxy ethylene urea (textile resin), with a polyester derived from the reaction of polyethylene glycol and ethylene glycol in a molar ratio of 1: 2-5 with a stoichiometric amount of dimethyl terephthalate, magnesium chloride (catalyst) and carboxymethyl cellulose is exemplified.
