Abstract

1377731 Carrier compositions CIBA-GEIGY AG 1 Jan 1973 [3 Jan 1972] 68/73 Heading D1B Synthetic hydrophobic fibres are dyed in the presence of a carrier composition which comprises per 100 parts by weight of the composition 10 to 92 parts by weight of a carrier which is solid to a temperature of at least 45‹C and 90 to 3 parts by weight of a compound of formula: in which X is an integer 5 to 8, m is an integer 5 to 8, Z is SO 3 H, OSO 3 H, or an alkali metal salt thereof, Y is H, OH, SO 3 H, OSO 3 H, or an alkali metal salt thereof and R is C n H 2n+1 where n is an integer 1 to 5. The solid carrier may be o-phenylphenol, biphenyl, phenylbenzoate, phenylsalicylate, naphthalene or mixtures thereof. Substrates may be dyed with disperse or cationic dyes and fibres specified are polyesters, polyvinyl chloride, polyamides and cellulose triacetate. The compositions may also contain per 100 parts by weight of the composition, 10 to 20 parts by weight of a sulphated alkylphenoxy polyethylene oxide or sodium salt thereof in which the alkyl group has 6 to 20 carbon atoms and the composition may be used in the form of an emulsion.
