Abstract

1,258,991. Improvements in or relating to liquid storage tanks. WESTERWALDER EISENWERK DR PAUL GERHARD K.G. 25 March, 1969 [27 March, 1968], No. 15460/69. Heading E1T. A closed storage tank is composed of panels 1 which are connected together by bolts. Each panel 1 is tray-like the flange having a part 4 at 45‹ to the base 2 and a second part 3 at 90‹ to the base 42. Each part 3 has spaced holes for bolts 6 which are used to connect the panels together. External clamping means 8 are used at the corners as shown in Fig. 2. A sealing compound 13 may be used at each joint. The plates may be coated with a corrosion resistant compound. The interior of the tank may be lined with a plastics sheet 12 and the space between the sheet and the wall may be evacuated. An alternative is that two sheets 12 may be used to line the tank, the space between them being evacuated. Also disclosed is the use of a set of panels of different dimensions, both square and rectangular to make tanks of varying sizes. The point of intersection of three adjacent panels may be reinforced.
