In a liquid storage tank having walls composed at least partly of flanged plates, the flanges of each plate comprise a first portion 2 inclined outwardly at 45‹ to the plane of the plate, a second portion 3 inclined at 90‹ to the said plane and a third portion 3 inclined inwardly at 45‹ thereto as shown. The plate may be reinforced by a stiffening iron 8a used in conjunction, if desired, with reinforcing struts for details of which together with modified profiles of plates, irons, mode of attachment, and sealing materials employed the Specification and remaining drawings (not shown) should be referred to. The plates may be made of steel or glass-fibre reinforced plastics.
