Abstract

1,213,943. Liquid storage tank. FIBREGLASS ENGS (TANKS) Ltd. 16 May, 1969, No. 24975/69. Heading E1T. The metal walls of a storage tank are joined together by means including a reinforced plastics material which also serves to seal the joints. The wall joints may be filled with e.g. glass fibre reinforced polyester resin, which sets and forms a waterproof seal or alternatively, as shown, a glass fibre reinforced plastics laminate 7 may be secured to adjacent wall edges by a gasket 8. In other embodiments the tank has an internal lining of reinforced plastics material (fig. 3) and L- shaped members (fig. 4) of reinforced plastics material are used as connecting and sealing members. Epoxy or other resins may be used with reinforcing materials such as asbestos, boron, carbon fibres or sapphire whiskers.
