Abstract

865,717. Tanks. PLASTIC LINERS Ltd. Oct. 13, 1958 [July 15, 1957], No. 22335/57. Class 69 (1). A galvanized iron water storage tank is provided with a pre-formed internal liquid-tight and corrosion-resistant lining of a flexible plastic material, shaped to fit within the tank, so as to be supported by contact with the walls and base of the tank. The lining may be secured, at least along its upper surface, to the internal surface of the tank. The lining may be made of thermoplastic such as P.V.C. or polythene, the joints in the lining being heat-sealed or welded. Thermal insulating material may be provided between the lining and the internal surface of the tank. The thermal insulating material may be included as a layer between two layers of flexible plastic material, at least the inner layer of which is adapted to form a liquidtight bag. Inlet and outlet connections to the tank are sealed to the lining of plastic material by means of grommets. A used galvanized iron water storage tank may be rehabilitated and provided with a lining of flexible plastic material as described in Specification 865,719.
