Abstract

559,884. Tanks &c. BRAITHWAITE & CO. (ENGINEERS), Ltd., and PARTRIDGE, F. A. June 19, 1942, Nos. 8411 and 10901. [Class 69 (i)] Relates to storage tanks and like structures built of peripherally flanged plates and consists in the use of pre-fabricated units consisting of two or more such plates connected together in angular relation along abutting edges as by welding, the units having co-planar edge flanges made continuous at the angles by means of an insert. The flanges may be internal or external, and the welding may be continuous inside and intermittent externally. Corner units 11 are formed by welding three flanged plates together ; between such uni's may be used units 15 consisting of two flanged plates welded together. Bracing rods 13 may be provided. To permit the use of continuous packing between such units, triangular or quadrantal plates 12a are welded between flanges 12 of a unit. The units are connected together by bolts or rivets, or by clips as described in Specification 559,885.
