Abstract

1,253,488. Swaging machines. GES. FUR FERTIGUNGSTECHNIK UND MASCHINENBAU G.m.b.H. 23 June, 1970, [27 June, 1969], No. 30386/70. Heading B3H. [Also in Divisions F1 and G2-G3] A swaging machine comprises a set of tools 8 each operated by a double-acting hydraulic piston-cylinder motor 3-6 and a pair of pump units 9, 10 each associated with a pair of motors and each having four piston pumps 11-14. Each unit has two piston pumps with large pistons connected to cylinder spaces 15 to effect a working stroke and two piston pumps with small pistons connected to return cylinder spaces 16. The pistons are connected in pairs in each unit and reciprocated by an eccentric shaft 17 driven by a motor 19 synchronized with the motor 19 of the other unit. A relief valve (21), Fig. 3 (not shown), opens when the pressure in the space 15 exceeds a set value to prevent overload. The depth of tool penetration can be altered by changing the amount of fluid in the lines using pumps (22), (24). An electrical position sensor (32) provides signals to a comparator (34) which sends control signals to the pumps to automatically control the penetration depth.
